About Durham Dance Salsa
Durham Dance Salsa
is the product of several years of fun, friendship, fitness,
and the simple desire to share this with others.
was introduced to Salsa dancing several years ago in 2008
while attending university. She needed an outlet from studying, and thought Salsa
would be a fun way to stay fit and meet new people. At the recommendation of a friend,
Kimberley enrolled in classes at Toronto Dance Salsa. Even at the Beginner level,
she was hooked. She continued to take progressive lessons over the years and was
eventually asked to be a volunteer helper with the school. Kimberley greatly enjoyed
assisting the beginner level students, observing their nervous excitement morph
to confident excitement with every class.
Beyond beginner level classes, Kimberley has assisted in teaching intermediate level
students and can instruct in beginner level Bachata, Cha Cha, and Merengue. She
also took her dancing to a new level this past spring by competing in the Toronto
Dance Salsa Amateur Salsa Competition where she and her partner made the Finals
Over the years, Kimberley has introduced several friends and acquaintances to salsa
dancing, including her partner, Rob Tardik
). Rob is an award-winning professional
musician, top 10 Billboard charting artist, song-writer, and performer of Contemporary
Jazz and Latin guitar. He also teaches guitar at his home-based studio, at The Merriam School of Music
, and is
on the Guitar Faculty at
, a world-renowned recording studio and college. With a musical
background, it is no surprise that he quickly picked up the dance and now incorporates
Salsa into his performances to engage the audience.
With a mutual background in teaching and a complementary passion for music and dance,
Kimberley and Rob have decided to share their joie de vivre
through Durham Dance
Salsa. They welcome you to join in the experience of fun, friendship, and fitness!
